Compress PDF Files
Compress PDF files in your browser: upload PDFs, choose a reduction level, and download smaller documents for sharing and storage.
Compress PDF online to reduce PDF file size
When you need to compress PDF documents for email, uploads, or storage, this page runs PDF compression directly in your browser—no desktop app required. Upload one or more PDFs, choose how aggressively you want to reduce PDF file size, and download the results. Lighter presets keep text and visuals closer to the original; stronger PDF compression shrinks more but can affect images and fine layout details.

PDF compression levels in this tool
After upload you open "Select Reduction Level" and pick a preset. "Less compression" favors quality; "Recommended compression" balances size and readability for most files. Pro subscribers can use Extreme compression and additional strong tiers when they need maximum size reduction. Estimated output size is shown beside each option so you can compare before you run PDF compression. In the preview grid you can zoom, rotate, or remove a file before moving on. Already-optimized PDFs may show only small savings, and the tool surfaces that message when it applies.
- Smaller PDFs are easier to email and upload where size limits apply.
- You stay in control by picking the PDF compression level before processing.
- Multiple PDFs can be queued and compressed in one session; when several files finish together, downloads may be offered as a ZIP for convenience.
- Pro plans unlock the strongest presets when you need the smallest possible files.
Upload, choose a level, download
- Add one or more PDFs with Choose Files, or drag them into the upload area.
- When you are ready, open Select Reduction Level.
- Pick a preset (estimated sizes help you compare), then run Compress File for a single PDF or Compress Files when you queued several.
- Download from the results screen when processing finishes. One file comes back as a PDF; several files compressed together may download as a ZIP.
Privacy and file handling
We use HTTPS for transfers. Original and compressed files are removed from our servers after processing, typically within about an hour. That timing is a normal operational target, not a legal guarantee. We do not claim perfect security outcomes—use sensitive documents only if you accept online processing risk, keep local backups of anything important, and review current limits on the Pricing page before uploading very large files. If compression fails or you close the tab mid-run, download only completes after a successful run.
